The RŪTA confectionery factory and the Lithuanian Students Basketball League (LIDL-MKL) have extended their collaboration intended to further promote and develop youth basketball in Lithuania. This is the second year that Rūta has joined the sponsors of the basketball tournaments organised by the League.
The extended partnership gives students more opportunities to participate in high-level competitions, where they can showcase their skills and improve on the basketball court. LIDL-MKL is the largest basketball league in Lithuania, bringing together hundreds of teams and thousands of young players. RŪTA’s support contributes to the growth and development of the League, ensuring that more children and young people can develop their skills and test them in international arenas, promoting Lithuania.
The delicious, high-quality and unique flavours of RŪTA’s confectionery are expected to not only help the young athletes to recover after intense competitions or training, but also to cheer them up, give them energy and motivate them to achieve their goals. “Both sports and art have always been a part of the history of RŪTA. It’s great to be able to help encourage the younger generation to go further and achieve results,” says Rūta Gilaitienė, the CEO of RŪTA.
The 2024–25 LIDL-MKL season, which will start in the first weeks of October, will be the most ambitious of all Lithuanian leagues, as per usual, and serve as the backbone of Lithuanian basketball. The League will consist of 27 championships with almost 500 teams from more than half a dozen sports schools. More than 4,000 matches will take place across various age groups, with nearly 7,000 pupils competing in the championships, which will run until mid-June.
The extended partnership between RŪTA and LIDL-MKL is an investment in the future of Lithuanian sport. We hope that this friendship will not only help talented young people to grow and develop, but also contribute to a stronger and healthier society.
